What is Parq Vancouver? A Hotel and Casino Complex in Downtown Vancouver

Parq Vancouver is a major hotel, casino, and entertainment complex located at 1079 Canada Place Way, near False Creek in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The property spans over 53 acres of land and was officially opened on September 19, 2018.

Development History

The idea for the Parq Vancouver project dates back to the early 2000s when the Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh, and Squamish First Nations signed a development agreement with Bosa Properties Ltd., one of Canada’s most well-known private real estate developers. The three Indigenous nations collectively formed the Vancouver Board of Trade’s (VBT) new joint venture partnership to parq-casino-vancouver.ca build a 2-billion-dollar project in downtown Vancouver.

In April 2016, Parq Resorts Inc. was incorporated and acquired by PBC (Pacific Boring Company Ltd), along with its majority shareholder (approximately 49%), Bosa Properties Ltd., the Musqueam Band Council and three other private investors as minority shareholders, who own a collective share of 51%. The latter group is not related to the former.

The initial project was conceived in 2014. After construction began in August 2016, it faced significant financial challenges when PBC declared bankruptcy on July 30, 2018.

On August 1st, 2018, Richmond-based Great Canadian Gaming Corp (GCGC) announced its intention to invest $150 million and assumed a role as the new senior secured lender under a receivership sale by Canada’s Crown-Appointed Receiver. The resulting revised development proposal would incorporate GCGC into the construction process.

Upon completion in September 2018, Parq Vancouver opened with both hotels offering amenities catering to gamblers:

1. The DOUGLAS (2nd and Cambie) – 169 rooms & suites
2. HOTEL PARTNERS – 200 suites

A boutique gaming lounge called Stixx Supper Club , located at the Douglas offers 3 stories high dining experience featuring its renowned sushi, as well as cocktail and wine list.
